Avalanche goal, scored by Sakic @ 4:23 of the 1st period.
That's all they would need; lights out for the Oilers once again.
Final score: Oilers 1, Avalanche 5.
Enough said.

Flames: 86 pts, 9 games remaining.
Avs: 82 pts, 9 games remaining.

Gooooooooooooo Avalanche!

Seems as though your hate for another team has overcome your love for your own team.

That's sad.

NEVER be happy that your team is losing. That's disgusting.

anonymous: We're on a 12 game losing streak and out of the playoffs. No one's happy about that. But we may as well make the best of a bad siutation. Lady_Byng and I are "misery loves company" type people. I guess you aren't.

Pammy: What a game for fan appreciation night, hey? PPV, too. Wonder how many people even bought it.

I didn't know the situation could be made better by someone else's failure. That doesn't seem childish to you? It's low. It's below Oil fans.

This outlook is especially repusive to me because I've seen people do exactly the opposite...love a team and be joyous only when your team is hot. Has no one ever heard of unconditional love?

I am miserable, but I'm not desperate. I'm worried about my boys. A lot of them seem to be injured/sick at the moment. Try to look to next year, ladies.

Just some things to think about.

Maybe you shouldn't be "anonymous" about your comments; I might take you more seriously.

Where does it indicate that I am happy that the Oilers are losing? Why would any fan want their team to be losing?
It's disgusting of you to even suggest that.

I don't hate the Flames, I hate their cocky fans which deserve to be knocked down a peg or two on the cockiness chart thinking they have won something before the playoffs even start. Much like Canuck fans.......

I choose to not be as miserable as I could let myself be; I did enough of that after game 7 of the SCF last season, which was quite miserable, I must say.
I have no control over what happens on the ice, might as well just go with the flow and try to not let it make me any more miserable than it needs to be.

And, a lot of the boys don't SEEM to injured/sick; they ARE injured/sick.

But really, I don't have to sit here and defend my opinions to you, oh "anonymous" one; because after all it is my blog and I can write whatever the hell I want.
Nowhere does it say you have to agree with it, but don't think you will change my opinion by calling me "childish" as you put it.

GOOOOO AVS!

P.S. I have been an Oilers fan for 10 years and will be an Oilers fan until the day I die.
Don't ever question my love for the Oil again. K?

Yeah, Sal, it was a helluva fan appreciation night all right.

Good thing we only paid for half-price singles!

The sad thing is though, I have seen the boys play worse with less rookies in the line-up (like the 7-3 loss to the Avs back in November.)

Everything in the Rexall stores were buy one get one free, so Pen and I went halfers on jerseys. Pretty sweet deal to get a jersey for $58 (including tax.)

I went back and got a hat and t-shirt later; Pen got two hats.

We didn't bother trying to get autos after the game, cuz really the boys were probably not in the mood for it. Best to let them be. But we have quite a few autos already anyways, so its all good.
Maybe we will try after the game on Saturday when you are coming with us. :)

I'm anonymous because you don't know me. Knowing my first name would not help you out.

I'm not trying to insult you.

I just wish you could state this so-called love of the Oil on your blog, instead of just defending yourself in your comments when someone calls you on your BS.

I also wish I lived closer to Edmonton, so we could actually talk like civilized adults.

Still don't understand the Go Avs POV. Shouldn't you like/hate a team for their players and not their fans?

Petty rivalries between true hockey fans are silly, but at least you have something to post on your blog right?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS is a childish heading. I am even more in support of that because it was in honor of your jubilation for the Oiler's loss.

Lady_Byng said...

"Yessssssssss" was being sarcastic not childish, in case you don't know what sarcasm is.

So sorry that you don't live closer to Edm to know that I am a sarcastic person at times; maybe you shouldn't be over reacting to some mindless stuff I write on the internet.

It's sometimes better to deal with the pain of losing with sarcasm rather than being miserable about it.

Again, no one is forcing you to read my blog. If you don't like it, don't read it.

There are probably hundreds of other Oilers related blogs out there that you could read. I will tell you this: I am not alone in my quest for the Avs to knock the Flames out of the playoffs, I am not alone in disliking other teams due to their fans, and I am not alone in being an Oiler fan that also criticizes the team when it is appropriate.
Maybe you should write your own blog then? So others can criticize your opinions like you are doing to mine.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but please don't patronize me with your "I wish I lived in Edm so we could talk like civil adults" stuff.

I like how you say that you aren't trying to insult me, but yet you call my blog BS and childish. Calling someone childish and saying they write BS is insulting no?

Who's to say I'm not also an Avs fan? I don't choose to write about my whole life and all my favorite hockey/sports teams, just the Oilers.

I wasn't aware I was overreacting. Just trying to understand.

I won't bother you anymore since you're getting so upset.

You're taking what I'm saying the wrong way.

Maybe I'm angry b/c you aren't nearly the only blog that wanted the Avs to beat Edmonton.

Again, I wasn't patronizing you or insulting you.

I don't have to read the blog. You don't have to write it either. It's both of our choices.

Just so you know, sarcasm doesn't come across in writing. And naming your blog "Rantings and Ramblings of an Oilers addict" made me think you would be in support of the Oilers only.

Have Fun.

Good. Please stop bothering me, and I won't have to 'talk behind your back' on other blogs.

And since I won't stop writing on MY blog, then I suggest you stop reading it.

And I do know sarcasm doesn't come across in writing; that is why maybe you should have read a previous post (maybe you did, I don't know) about the 'Go Avs' thing to understand the sarcasm.

Whichever, as you please.

I know my blog isn't the best, I know I don't have great writing skills, but it is my blog so I shall say on it what I may.

Peace out.

There's nothing wrong with your blog.

Just making conversation.

Thanks for obliging me.

I can't belive there are people in this world who've never heard of, or at least experienced the joy of, schadenfreude.

didn't know the situation could be made better by someone else's failure. That doesn't seem childish to you? It's low. It's below Oil fans.

Bah! What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their fans. Okay, ideally, it's the Oilers who would be doing the crushing, but if that falls to, say, Colorado, so be it. If I can't have my playoffs, the Red Scum shouldn't get theirs either.

Still don't understand the Go Avs POV. Shouldn't you like/hate a team for their players and not their fans?

Ah, but that would be rational. And you have implicitly acknowledged that sports fandom is irrational. So why does hating the Flames and wanting themn to fail require any explanation?

When one hates another team, one can hate them for the city they play in, the crest on their jersey, their fans, their haircuts, etc etc. The real reason for the hate is they are the Other, the nemesis of your team. That's all there is to it. All the stuff about the obnoxiousness of their fans or their stupid horse-with-a-moustasche logo is post-facto justification for a fundamentally irrational set of behaviours.

LOL, well thanks for your POV, littlefury! At least you answered my questions. I'm anonymous..at least I was.

I guess it all makes a little more sense now. :)
