Smashville game preview

Tonight is the final regular season home game for our mighty Oil, and the last game to be played at Rexall until the 2007/08 pre-season. It's going to be a long 6 months.
The Oilers off-season with no doubtly be filled with a few roster changes, hopefully some awesome 1st round draft picks, recovering fully from injuries, and a lot of golf/drinking.
More on that later though; we still have 7 games to play!

Now, the Oilers put a little winkle in the Avs bid for the 8th and final playoff spot with Reasoner's goal in the shoot out last night, putting a halt to their losing skid at 12 games, but the Preds are a better team; 1st place overall in the Western Conference better. A team with which the Oilers have had some trouble with this season, losing 5-3 and 3-2 to the mightier Preds back in November and December.

The Preds are dealing with some of their own injuries, but really, no other team is playing with 4 raw rookies on defense.

Speaking of the Oilers rookie laden defense, how about the Oilers record when Gilbert is in the line-up (4-0-1). Impressive on Gilbert's part, or just a lucky coincidence?

The Preds have a impressive Saturday night record: 18-4-2 (5-2-0 on the road).

What does all of this mean? The Oilers are going to be in tough to beat the Preds tonight, but hey! our secret weapon Gilbert is back in the line up!

Hemsky is doubtful for tonight's game, as his shoulder was not 100% last night.
