Sad day. AGAIN. *sigh*

Oilers 1, Kings 5.

Well, coming into this game, the Oilers already depleted with injuries and the flu (ever heard of a flu shot?! MAN!) were on a 7 game losing streak, the Kings losers themselves of 5 straight. Something had to give right? Give the Oilers did; ending Los Angeles streak and furthering their own. The loss to San Jose was so sad it was funny; tonight's loss was just sad; very, very sad.
Let the crying games begin ..............

Raffi in a rut!

His contract is up and his bargaining power is dropping daily

By JONATHAN HUNTINGTON, Sun Media

SAN JOSE -- Stuck in the worst rut of his professional career, Raffi Torres isn't making excuses.

"I'm not really doing anything out there," said the frustrated Edmonton Oilers' forward before last night's tilt against the San Jose Sharks.

"It's just kind of like killing time out there - that is what it looks like."

With only one goal in his last 12 games entering last night, Torres is nowhere near the form he showed last year when he potted 27 goals.

Like almost every other forward on this team, the well has gone dry.

"It is not fun at all," he remarked. "It's not like we are showing up at the rink and it is all fun and games.

"We are athletes and professionals and what we want to do is win.

"It is tough right now and we have to grind it out."

It's also bad timing in another respect for the 25-year-old winger because his contract is up at the end of this season.

Earning $925,000 US this season, his bargaining power has certainly dropped from last spring.

"Hopefully they (Oilers' management) know that when things go well they have seen that side (too)," said Torres.

:( Poor Raf. Everyone on the Oilers seems to be a in a rut this season though.
If all else fails, he can become a pimp. I mean, a golfer.

I laughed after Juice let in the second one. Mainly because I had just texted Pen and said "Don't worry, Juice will rebound" and then I swear the moment I hit "send", the Kings scored.

Also, it sucks that Raf has had such a tough year. Everyone has. I hope everyone who's back next season does better.

PS - we always end other teams losing streaks. It's sad.

I hate when ppl spread 'rumors', but my boss says he knows a guy that golfs with Raf in the summer, and he said that Raf is into cocaine. :/
We all know that Grant Fuhr was a big coke-head in his time with the Oilers (I'm sure some of the other guys did it too), but I hate to hear that kind of crap.
That's really not cool AT ALL if Raf does do cocaine, but I wouldn't really be that shocked if it was true.
Most players addictions are kept out of public knowledge until they are charged with an offense or go to rehab.

What is with the Oilers ending other teams losing streaks? UGH.
We couldn't possibly end the season on a 20 game losing streak could we?!?!? Dear LORD, I hope not. :/

Drugs are bad, M'kay.

But it wouldn't shock me that much if he was into cocaine, either. Pretty much everyone these days does them. Obviously that doesn't make it ok. It does take away shock value though.

I can't imagine we'd end the season like that. We would be a bigger joke than we already are.

We would be a bigger joke than the 1993/94 edition of the Oilers, who were a pretty big joke. The Oilers record for the longest losing streak is 11 games, done by, you guessed it, the 1993/94 Oilers.
Ugh.

Thank God I wasn't old enough to have remembered that...

Too bad I'm old enough to remember this, though.
