Haven't blogged in awhile, but I'm back!

Combined with work and not feeling up to par to blog lately, I just haven't done it. Tonight will be the West and East final predictions. Still working on my Oilers locker room sale story (complete with pictures!) for another day. (Maybe tomorrow).

Finished with a 3-1 predicting record in the 2nd round, calling two series in the correct amount of games as well. (Sabres in 6 and Ducks in 5.) Heading into the West and East finals with a 9-3 record.
Called the Sharks/Wings series to go 6 games, but thought the Sharks could overcome the Mighty Red Machine, but like last season when they shot themselves in the foot and fucked up the series against the Oilers, they proceeded to do the same thing this season. Guess they didn't learn from their mistakes, unlike the Wings and Ducks (the other two Western teams the Oilers beat last year on their way to the SCF.)

Back to cheering for the Wings. Even though I don't hate Pronger, I hate his wife that much more for her hand in for screwing over the Oilers. The bitch has the nerve to leave him NOW, after we traded him in the hopes that his marriage could be saved. Chris never did give us Oilers fans (or anyone else for that matter) the real reason behind his request for a trade due to "family issues" but we all know it was his princess of a wife. What does this have to do with the 2007 Western Final you may ask? Well, as much as I have gotten over hating Pronger and directing that hate towards his (soon to be ex) wife, I miss the crap out of him and can't bear to watch him pump Stanley around in a Ducks uniform. If *IF* the Ducks beat the Wings and *IF* they do win the Cup, I just might break down and cry; worse than when the Oilers lost it last season. And let me tell you, it was a long and hard cry.

I hope the East wins it though, since the Senators are the last Canadian team standing, but if Buffalo takes them out, the Sabres deserve the Cup after those jerk Hurricanes took them out last season.
Match-ups from the regular season really mean shit in the playoffs, and I don't have the energy to get into the stats, so I'm just gonna wing it. Ha, wing it.

WESTERN FINAL

Ducks and Wings. Oh, the bird teams. Excellent. Two teams that are still on a mission to rectify losing to the Oilers last season. Really, either team is capable of winning this series and the Cup. The same can be said about the two Eastern Final teams as well. But only one will be winning it all. Wings in 6, just cuz as I mentioned above, I can't bear the thought of seeing Pronger with the Cup after the Oilers run last season.
Which by the way, I can watch hi-lites from the 1st 3 rounds (Oilers wins over the Wings, Sharks, and Ducks) but not the 4th and final round against the 'Canes due to losing and all. Not even the hi-lites from the games the Oilers won; I still tear up.
Anyways, back on topic. I would be surprised if this series was won in less than 6 games.

EASTERN FINAL

Sabres and Senators. Woooo boy. Should be a dozzie. Guaranteed to be a good hard hitting time.
Cheering for a Senators win, go Canada! But if Buffalo wins I'd be ok with that since they got the shaft in last season's East Final, with all their injuries they endured. Both teams are deserving on a trip to the SCF showdown, but only one will get there. Both teams have solid goal tending, but Miller is prone to choking slightly, say when the Sabres have a 2 0r 3 goal lead and letting the other team back into it.

Stats up to game 5: (Wings vs Flames)
Home team: 5-0
Team scoring first: 5-0
Game 6 tonight: The home team (Flames) scored 1st, but did not win! Imagine that; a buck in the trend!

Could be due to a thing called karma biting them in the ass? (If scoring 1st AT HOME and then losing in overtime on a goal scored by one Johan Franzen, the guy who was the victim in McLennan's slasher happy 18 seconds in game 5 which resulted in his suspension and fines for the team, can be called "karma".)
Be it karma or not, the Flames lost in 6 games to the mighty Red Wings and all is right with the hockey world (for now).

With one series yet to be determined, I have a 6-1 (W-L) predicting rate so far. Go me!

If the Stars win tomorrow night, the 2nd round in the wild West will be Wings-Stars and Sharks-Ducks. If the Canucks win, it will be Wings-Sharks and Ducks-Canucks.
Either way, it should make for some great hockey.

Maybe some the Flames will join the gang heading to Russia? If not, see all you suckers next season for another round in the ongoing Battle of Alberta.

Hoh boy, it's getting nasty out there.

I actually got to sit and watch an entire playoff game yesterday; two entire games to be exact.
And boy do the Flames/Wings Nucks/Stars have a hate-on for each other.

I like the chippy, somewhat 'dirty' stuff sometimes, but when a player crosses the line and it's not just 'in the moment of the game', its downright dangerous; attempt to injure stuff.
Like Alex Burrows of the Canucks; who the fuck is this pansy-ass wannabe punk anyways? He's a nobody, that's who he is. Now, I am not a Dallas Stars fan, but to slash Brenden Morrow from behind on the back on the ankle is pretty low. Morrow ain't one to back down, so he came over to the bench and let Burrows have it verbally. Boy, do I wish I knew what they said to each other. Probably just a lot of profanity and 'you better watch your back' stuff I'm sure.





The Stars, in their history; going back to their days as the Minnesota North Stars, have yet come back to win a series when down 3-1, but now is a good a time as any to start.

As for another nobody acting like an idiot, take a look at Jamie MacLennan. He comes in in relief for Kipper in a 5-1 game and turns into a fucktard. Whacking and hacking at Franzen, it got him suspended and his stupidity was contagious as the whole team got into the dirty stick work and essentially got suspended and fined for it.

Calgary Flames goaltender Jamie McLennan has been suspended five games, Calgary coach Jim Playfair has been fined $25,000 and the Flames’ organization has been fined $100,000 for a variety of actions late in Game Five of the team’s Western Conference Quarter-final series against the Detroit Red Wings.





Way to be (F)lames, way to be.

As for game 6 tonight, maybe it won't be as nasty. Could be more nasty; let's hope the refs put an end to it before it starts though. That's not hockey, that's being idiotic.
So far this series has been a complete homer's series, with the Flames sucking something fierce in Detroit, but playing solid at home. What gives? It's carried over from the Flames regular season play. I don't see how a team can be so Jekyll and Hyde. Even if the Flames do manage to win at home tonight, the Wings will win game 7; that's just how this series is going. You aren't going to go far in the playoffs if you can't win on the road when you also don't have home ice advantage.

The 2nd round for the East is set with the Devils beating the Lightning today. Mostly due to my Marty playing stellar in net for the Devils.
The Devils will face the Senators, with the Rangers taking on the Sabres.
Predictions for the 2nd round after the Wild (nasty) West is set.

So far so good.

The mighty Red Wings are up 2-0 in their series against the (F)lames; game 3 goes tonight.
So much for the (F)lames stellar defense corps. If not for Kipper (did he dye his red hair brunette?) the (F)lames would have lost by bigger margins than 4-1 and 3-1.

The Sharks are up 2-1 in their series against the Predators.
By far the most rough and entertaining series of all. Our old friends Billy G and Grier are playing pretty solid.
Plus, who knows what color Mark Smith is going to dye his hair to next; that's half the fun of watching him.
Maybe Kipper wanted to get in on the fun, (being a former teammate of Smith's in San Jose) but he missed the memo on dyeing it a funky hair color, not plain brown.

The Ducks are on the verge of sweeping the Wild. I tried to watch this series and just couldn't do it.
I hate the Wild, and even though I predicted the Ducks would win, I am in no way cheering for them. Watching a game/series and not caring about which team wins is pointless and boring.

Red Wings 4, Flames 1.

So much for the Flames stellar defense and the Red Wings 'soft' forwards.
Sure, it's only game one, but if the Flames continue to play like they did tonight, they are going to be out golfing faster than you can say "SWEEP!"
